Historical Significance:
Originally designated as VAH-2 in November 1968, the squadron was re-designated as Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 132 (VAQ-132) and became the first operational squadron to receive the EA-6B Prowler in January 1971. Previously, the unit had been flying the Douglas KA-3B/EKA-3B Skywarrior. Based in Whidbey Island, Washington, VAQ-132 played a vital role in electronic warfare for the US Navy, providing crucial support during operations, including Operations Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2007. The EA-6B was officially replaced by the Boeing EA-18G Growler in 2009.
